I Did It My Way: Behind the Scenes of Franalations' YouTube Channel

coiski: Talking with other YouTubers, your name has come up a lot as an influence for them to start their channels. What’s it like knowing you’ve made that impact in the space and have had that influence? Is that something you’re conscious of?

Fran: I mean, that is awesome to hear. I know that, early on, there was definitely a lot of YouTubers who would message me and ask how I did it, and I would literally tell them. Like a game plan of, ‘Do this,’ ‘Do that,’ ‘This is what comes from it,’ ‘If you upload the video, you’re not done because you still have to promote it, share it, post it on forums and build a network.’ Literally everything I learned, I tried to pass along to everyone who was asking. So it’s dope to hear that, still to this day, I have that kind of impact.

coiski: If you could only keep three shoes from your collection – SandalBoyz excluded – what would you pick?

Fran: Red Supreme Blazers, the Nike “What the Dunk” and then Round Two actually gifted me a signed pair of Nike SB Pigeons. No matter what, I am keeping those three for sure.

coiski: We know you’re into gaming. Favorite Pokemon character?

Fran: It’s always changing, but I feel like Keldeo is always up there. He’s this legendary unicorn character, and I have used him previously in decks when I was first getting back into playing in tournaments. Also, Eevee is high up there, so it’s awesome to see that’s a character that will be featured on the next game.

coiski: If you could give someone reading this a piece of advice, what would it be?

Fran: Surround yourself with like-minded people to feed off of and to help push you. See what they’re doing that might be different than what you are doing. It’s always better to have a team around you, especially in business – one that is like- minded, motivated and has different skills. That’s been really beneficial to me.
