Twitter, Inc. is partnering up with Bloomberg to show news all day, every day.
Bloomberg will produce news for Twitter’s platform and will include live video from news outlets around the world and verified videos on Twitter posted by users. The channel has not been named but is expected to start in the fall.
“This news will be focused on the most important news for an intelligent audience around the globe and it’s going to be broader in focus than our existing network,” said Bloomberg Media’s chief executive officer, Justin Smith.
According to a study in 2016 by Pew Research Center, 6-in-10 adult Americans get their news from social media. Twitter had live streams of presidential debates last year, and many were able to stream these important events on the go. With Twitter being known for the platform that gives immediacy and unique news, it would be beneficial to have this in TV news form.
Twitter’s partnership with Bloomberg will bring a new platform of news that will promote more engagement by the public. Many stories that might not have been highlighted in major news outlets will now have light shed on them through the new channel.
Stay tuned for more details.
